December 3, 2014 - Earlier this summer, Josh Lamkin became MEDITECH’s new Home Care Regulatory Coordinator. Now that he’s had a few months to get his feet wet, we thought we’d take this opportunity to better introduce Josh and offer some insight into his role.
MEDITECH: What initially brought you to MEDITECH?
Josh: I was introduced to MEDITECH through a college friend who also works in the Home Care division. I found the interview process to be challenging and inspiring, and I knew I wanted to work with this group of smart, motivated people.
Additionally, almost everyone in my family works in the healthcare industry, so I’ve always felt a certain connection to the industry on many levels.
MEDITECH: What interested you in the position of Regulatory Coordinator?
Josh: Prior to this role, part of my responsibilities included preparing monthly presentations for our clients which focused on industry news. More often than not, our industry news is chock full of regulatory news, so it seemed like a natural fit.
For Home Care and Hospice agencies, the number of regulations and the constantly changing regulatory environment can be overwhelming. Many home care agencies, especially smaller ones, don’t have the resources to keep up with all of it, so it’s my job to read and interpret the regulations to help ensure our clients remain compliant with government requirements.
MEDITECH: You mentioned that your very first MEDITECH interview was challenging, tell us about applying for the Regulatory Coordinator position.
Josh: It was a rigorous process that included preparing and delivering a presentation of an actual large year-end regulatory release from the government. I was able to pull from my previous experience, which encompassed delving into and explaining government guidelines and legislation.
MEDITECH: You definitely seem up for the task, which isn’t easy with today’s evolving industry.
Josh: It is both a challenge and a pleasure to be working in this new role as Regulatory Coordinator for Home Care. With the shift to accountable, coordinated, quality-based care models, home care, including telehealth, will play a major role in helping to effectively manage and treat chronic diseases and promote wellness for patient populations.
I fully appreciate MEDITECH’s commitment to making sure our software complies with any regulatory requirements mandated by federal or state governments. We want to streamline processes and information so that our clients can get back to the business of providing the highest quality care for their patients.
