6.1 Physician Product Enhancements 

MEDITECH’s product enhancements come from a variety of areas, including customer feedback, which is garnered throughout all stages of development. Whether it’s attending one of our many strategic forums, participating in our Regional Events, or joining a specific Focus Group, our customers influence the direction of our products, ensuring we are continually designing systems with customer usability in mind.

Below, are some highlights from the recent round of enhancements made to our 6.1 physician solutions.  

  • A Continuous Orders Report is available.
  • Physicians can enter a free text reason for discontinuing or cancelling both acute and ambulatory orders.
  • A patient-centric audit log is available to help meet ARRA security standards.
  • Pharmacy is flagged to suppress first dose when a new medication is edited.
  • As part of CCHIT Certification, the system captures a user’s signature to indicate when medication reconciliation has been completed.
  • The PRN value now displays when mapping home medications to/from acute visit medications.
  • To help address Stage 2 Meaningful Use, additional data items from Order Management are included on the electronic Continuity of Care Document (CCD), including a number of fields for Ambulatory Medications and ITS Orders.
  • Renewal notices and a new status are available for specific times and orders.
  • Dosing set changes allow users to define new fields and restrictions.
  • Medication reconciliation history can be moved manually to a new order.
