Meet William Gustin, MD

March 20, 2015 - Meet MEDITECH Physician Consultant William Gustin, IV, MD, a practicing hospitalist from Southern California. In this video interview, we talk with Dr. Gustin about his role as a MEDITECH Physician Consultant, and how he feels the EHR is transforming both patient care and the patient-physician relationship.

As a member of MEDITECH’s physician team, Dr. Gustin works with customers on the READY implementation process to support MEDITECH hospitals as they move forward with CPOE and Physician Documentation. He also consults with the MEDITECH Development team on physician content development for our 6.x platform.

Among Dr. Gustin’s long list of accomplishments, he has spearheaded many medical ministry projects for PEACE Healthcare of Saddleback Church (Lake Forest, CA), including the advancement of the ‘Clinical Church' screening methodology for HIV screening and church-centered health promotion.

Dr. Gustin has visited Kibuye, Rwanda several times in his missions work to help educate local healthcare volunteers, called PEACE trainers, who provide general services to the community including health education and screening and counseling services for HIV. During his many visits to Kibuye, Dr. Gustin became a big proponent of telehealth and tele-education, recognizing that tele-education was an important tool in helping to train the PEACE volunteers from abroad. In his video interview, he shares how telemedicine, and what he calls “tele-delivery,” can transform healthcare by allowing providers to reach what were once inaccessible patients.
