MEDITECH EHR Alerts Providers to Possible Sepsis

Check out our new white paper to learn how MEDITECH’s EHR sends alert notifications to clinicians on patients who meet the criteria for possible sepsis, enabling care teams to start aggressive treatment earlier for improved outcomes.

MEDITECH's Physician Consultant team was an integral part of the creation for this white paper, and our inhouse hospitalist Bryan Bagdasian, MD, MMM reviewed the paper for clinical authenticity.

“MEDITECH’s solution for alerting providers of possible sepsis is proof of the evolution of EHRs,” he says. “The white paper shows how we can take data, digitize it, and make it work for care providers, and ultimately, the patient.”

Using ED and inpatient scenarios, MEDITECH’s EHR Alerts Clinicians to Possible Sepsis illustrates how real-time nursing documentation, a sepsis algorithm, and role-based status boards function as an early warning detection system, alerting care providers to subtle changes that may indicate a patient’s condition is worsening.

“There are plenty of distractions in the clinical arena, which can create distance between the patient and provider.” says Bagdasian. “MEDITECH’s tool is addressing that gap by establishing communication and collaboration between the patient’s nursing and physician teams before sepsis can advance.”
