Inpatient Prospective Payment System Final Rule Published by CMS

August 14, 2014 - CMS has published the final rule in the Federal Register, and it is now posted on CMS's website. MEDITECH has reviewed the details of the final rule and will provide updates with any additional information if it becomes available.

The key change to be included with this new version is as follows: 

1) MCE Edits - Remove procedure code 39.28—Extracranial-intracranial (EC-IC) vascular bypass—from the non-covered procedure edit effective FY 2015

MEDITECH provides a function to load the updated DRGs and rate changes into the hospital's databases. The CMS Diagnosis Groups (DRG) Grouper Version 32 will be procured from the National Technical Information Service when it becomes available mid August 2014. Once all required programming changes are completed, the Abstracting/Case Mix DRG Grouper Version 32 Update file and accompanying documentation will be posted to MEDITECH's website for all United States customers to download. It is anticipated that this update file and documentation will be available mid September 2014.
