June 6, 2014 - MEDITECH recently hosted our annual Spring Physician Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting with over 40 physician advisors from our customer community. The two-day meeting, which was moderated by MEDITECH's Lead Physician Informaticist Steve Jones, MD, was an opportunity for members of the PAC to connect with MEDITECH’s leadership, to network with one another, and also to learn about upcoming developments to the physician toolset.
Advisory committee members participated in large group sessions on MEDITECH's vision for the future as well as on the implications of ICD-10 documentation requirements. Attendees then participated in small group sessions both to get a sneak peek, and also to give feedback on, a host of new product enhancements in the pipeline.
Dr. Jones paid homage to Atul Gawande in his closing remarks, sharing his thoughts on the major changes going on in medicine right now, and how the role of physicians in healthcare delivery is shifting from “being cowboys to being part of pit crews.”
“In order to deliver high quality care and a great patient experience, all at low cost, we need to work better as teams,” Dr. Jones shared. “Thank you for being a part of our team as we navigate these murky waters together.”
