Imaging Appropriate Use Criteria Resource Center

May 1, 2017 - MEDITECH's Imaging Appropriate Use Criteria Resource Center enables you to:

  • Subscribe to receive Imaging Appropriate Use Criteria notifications
  • Review the project plan to ensure your organization is prepared to meet the requirements of the Protecting Access of Medicare Act of 2014 (PAMA).

Protecting Access to Medicare Act

The PAMA includes a requirement to promote an Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) program for any “advanced diagnostic imaging service.” Examples of advanced imaging studies are CAT scans, PET scans, and MRIs. The rule* applies to the following settings:

  • Physician offices
  • Hospital outpatient departments (including Emergency Department)
  • Ambulatory surgical centers.

*Inpatients are not included in the rule.

To comply with the PAMA, MEDITECH has collaborated with the National Decision Support Company (NDSC) to streamline the licensing and activation of features required for compliance — customers were notified via email in January. The regulation goes into effect on January 1, 2018.

Proactively plan your implementation — visit the Imaging Appropriate Use Criteria Resource Center to get started today.

Before You Go

We encourage CIOs and/or application contacts to review the Implementation Plan and contact the NDSC for licensing. We appreciate your cooperation to ensure the PAMA regulation receives appropriate attention.
