April 19, 2022 - When MEDITECH’s now legacy 6.16 product line was created, the naming convention for code changes was WPHY. That 6.16 code was the foundation for what is now known as Expanse. As such, that code is still relevant to our Expanse customers at a base level. However, in 2018, MEDITECH’s Development teams honed in on particular product areas of the system, creating specific documentation, chart, and workload code changes, which pertain to multiple care venues (e.g., ambulatory, acute, emergency department, etc.). Since then, code has been delivered using more specific naming conventions like ORD, DOC, CHART, WKD, and CLIN. Please refer to this customer announcement for MEDITECH’s prior change to documenting Dev IDs by product areas.
As our Expanse system continues to evolve, we want to ensure new customers moving to this platform use their time wisely in how they test. Rather than reviewing originating code changes which are outdated, end users can opt out of testing WPHY Dev IDs. While that foundational code is still relevant, the training and documentation resources provided by MEDITECH, along with the testing needed for the newer Development IDs, should fully encompass Expanse functionality.
