April 4, 2023 - Patient Safety Awareness Week (PSAW) began on Sunday, March 12, and continued through Saturday, March 18. While patient safety is always a priority at MEDITECH, PSAW brings MEDITECH’s patient safety-related mission and work to the forefront for all staff. Read on to hear how MEDITECH acknowledged this annual event.
During PSAW, staff had opportunities to hear from lead physician informaticist, Dr. Steven Jones, and attend two industry webinars hosted by IHI. Internal communications reminded all staff of how their efforts and MEDITECH's EHR contribute to patient safety.
On March 15, Dr. Steven Jones, lead physician informaticist, shared the inherent risks involved with delivering patient care and the need for systems such as MEDITECH. During his presentation, Dr. Jones used his experience as a Board-Certified Family Practitioner to impart to MEDITECH staff the following:
MEDITECH’s EHR Safety Corner is a key channel for education related to EHR optimization and workflows. MEDITECH staff are strongly encouraged to subscribe to receive PE notifications and/or Safety Workflow/Education for their products areas. Keeping current with PEs and/or educational articles is just as valuable to internal staff as it is to you.
