April 7, 2020 - MEDITECH is pleased to support Health Records on iPhone for all of its EHR platforms. Following the lead of MEDITECH Expanse and 6.0 customers, Client/Server customers Presence Health, Valley Presbyterian Hospital, and Augusta Health Care — along with MAGIC customer Milford Regional Medical Center — are now offering their communities access to health information through Health Records on iPhone. The feature is part of the Apple Health app, which also shows activity, heart rate, and other health data consolidated from iPhone, Apple Watch, and HealthKit-enabled third party apps.
MAGIC customers currently at release 5.67.34 and higher, and Client/Server customers at release 5.67.37 and higher, will now be able to offer their patients one convenient, comprehensive record, enabling them to take a more proactive role in managing their own wellness.
Health Records on iPhone brings together patient data from hospitals, clinics, and the existing Apple Health app to help consumers be more effective stewards of their own health information. Integrating data from the MEDITECH EHR with data stored in the Health app makes it easy for consumers to see their available medical information from multiple providers, whenever they choose.
With Health Records on iPhone, consumers have health information from participating institutions organized into one view, covering allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures, and vitals. They also receive notifications when their data is updated. Health Records data is downloaded directly to a user’s iPhone and is encrypted and protected with the user’s iPhone passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID.
Previously, patients’ health records were stored in multiple locations, requiring consumers to log into each care provider’s website and manually piece together the information. Apple worked with the healthcare community to take a consumer-friendly approach and created Health Records based on FHIRⓇ (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), a standard for transferring electronic health records.
