April 8, 2020 - MEDITECH — along with Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) and Deborah Heart and Lung Center — will offer a Mastering An Electronic Health Record (EHR) online course from May 22 to August 17.
The 12-week program focuses on an introduction to healthcare informatics and the responsibilities placed on professionals in the field. The course will demonstrate clinical workflow using MEDITECH’s Electronic Health Record. This will be an online course with two LIVE sessions. Students will attend remotely and engage in hands-on exercises in the MEDITECH Expanse software. The full syllabus can be found here.
Successful completion of the course will help prepare students to make the leap into a career in the healthcare informatics field. The program is available to anyone within, or outside of, RCBC, as it is an online course. This three (3) credit course has no prerequisites, and the transferability of these credits will be at the discretion of the receiving institution.
When asked about the new course, Rich Temple, vice president and chief information officer at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, said, “It will be great to have an EHR program that will provide talent for Deborah Heart and Lung, and other MEDITECH hospitals. It will be a differentiator for Rowan College at Burlington County, as well as a unique course offering that will provide benefits to the community, as healthcare informatics is a growing employment field. Both MEDITECH and Rowan College are long-standing partners with Deborah, and I’m pleased to continue expanding our relationship and explore new medical educational offerings.”
Students first apply to Rowan College at Burlington County and can then register for the course (HIT-225-900: Mastering Elec Health Record).
