March 20, 2020 - Patient Safety Awareness Week (PSAW) began on Sunday, March 8, and continued through Saturday, March 14. Read on to hear how MEDITECH acknowledged this annual recognition event.
At MEDITECH, during each day of PSAW, communications were sent to staff and also posted to our Intranet.
Day 1 was dedicated to reinforcing a safety culture, including standards and practices. We promoted a lesson in being a “hole filler” and handed out “gold coins,” inspired by Kim Hollon, CEO, Signature Healthcare, and his personal commitment to patient safety; how EHRs can help address patient safety concerns; and several patient safety-related training opportunities.
Day 2 focused on patient safety in an ambulatory environment, promoting the Ambulatory Hold Queue, as well as recommended MEDITECH articles, training opportunities, and industry articles.
On Day 3, we highlighted internal clinical staff members — sharing how their backgrounds contribute to their meaningful work at MEDITECH. These stories were also included in Carol Bird’s blog noted below.
Day 4 focused on MEDITECH’s commitment to safety and education, highlighting customers’ stories, the IHI Basic Certificate in Quality and Safety and the MEDITECH staff who obtained certification, and recommended industry articles. We were pleased to include several customers' stories, where they shared how they enhance patient safety by optimizing MEDITECH’s EHR.
Lastly, on Day 5, we celebrated our wins — showcasing EHR Safety Board accomplishments, an update from our Development team, customer compliments, and a link to an inspiring customer roundtable.
