Amanda Gutshall, BSN, Clinical Analyst, Broadlawns Medical Center
- I received my BSN degree from Grand View College, now Grand View University located in Des Moines, IA in 1998. After working 2 years at another healthcare facility in the metro Des Moines area, I began work as a floor nurse at Broadlawns Medical Center in 2000. Broadlawns is a 200-bed licensed safety net hospital in Polk County which encompasses the main metropolitan area of Des Moines, Ia. We serve many other surrounding counties and work closely with multiple agencies throughout Iowa to provide a healthy community in which there is accessible, cost-effective and high-quality patient care for all. Broadlawns is also a teaching facility, home to a family medicine, transitional year and psych residency programs. Now working on my 23rd year at Broadlawns, I transitioned from a floor nurse and supervisor to Clinical Analyst in 2010. My work with MEDITECH has taken me from 5.x, LSS, Client Server, 6.x, 2.1 to now 2.2 Expanse Web. Over the many years at Broadlawns, we have worked to move our small oncology clinic comprised of 1 Doctor and 1 ARNP and a staffed infusion center into the various platforms of MEDITECH with the most recent being Web Oncology in January of 2023. Besides being the main coordinator for the oncology platform I also work with multiple other modules including but not limited to PCS, PCM, ED, OM, SUR, Web Ambulatory.
Tracy McCauley, RN, BSN, MS, OCN, Applications Analyst, Frederick Health
- My Name is Tracy McCauley and I currently working at Frederick Health as an Ambulatory Analyst for Oncology. I have been an analyst for the past year working in both the Oncology and Ambulatory Modules of MEDITECH. I am also an Oncology Certified Nurse. Prior to my analyst role I worked as an Oncology Nurse Navigator of over 10 years. I was highly involved in the transition at Frederick Health from Next Gen to MEDITECH Expanse. I have also worked at St. Agnes Hospital and the University of Maryland as an Oncology Navigator, and I was highly involved in their transition to MEDITECH. I have a master’s degree in health sciences leadership and management from the University of Md.
Josh Vestal, PharmD, Clinical Pharmacy Informaticist, Appalachian Regional Healthcare
- I am a clinical pharmacy informaticist at Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH). I received my doctorate of pharmacy degree from West Virginia University in 2010 and completed a postgraduate year 1 (PGY1) residency at Charleston Area Medical Center in 2011. I started working as a staff pharmacist for ARH in 2013 until I transitioned to my current position in November of 2019. I am currently the Oncology core team leader, but also work with the Pharmacy, PCS, and OM modules in MEDITECH. I currently manage treatment plans within oncology for six clinics at ARH and we recently transitioned from Expanse 2.1 to 2.2 Expanse web in July of 2022.
