MEDITECH Moves Forward with Physician Advisors

June 26, 2015 - MEDITECH recently hosted 40 physician advisors across our customer community at our annual Physician Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting held in our brand new Foxborough Conference Center. The goal of the two-day meeting was to showcase the latest developments in our physician toolset, to ask these physician leaders some strategic and tactical questions, and also give the physician advisors a chance to network and connect with MEDITECH’s leadership.

The themes for this year’s PAC were centered around partnering with our physician community to improve outcomes, making the patient experience better, lowering costs, and increasing productivity and efficiency. Executive Vice President Hoda Sayed-Friel shared MEDITECH’s vision for Precision Medicine. “Our engagement with the Institute of Medicine in the area of genomics has provided great insight and direction in what we can provide both short term and long term,” says Ms. Sayed-Friel. “Our immediate focus is to achieve patient safety and better outcomes by utilizing evidence based pharmacogenomic data, rules and alerts using the current software. Our longer term strategy will build on this to create a new infrastructure to support the variation of genetic data we will retrieve, reference, or store.”

In the breakout sessions, we explored the specific ways MEDITECH delivers clinical quality to our physicians in the most efficient way. “We really tried to convey throughout these sessions that MEDITECH wants to do more than just increase productivity — we want to give time back to our physician community,” concluded Dr. Steven Jones, physician informaticist.

Our physician community will have the opportunity to follow up on many of these topics during the
Physician and CIO Forum on November 5 and 6.
