May 22, 2015 - We’re heading to the Music City for the International MUSE Conference from May 26-29, and we hope to see you there! Enhanced Conflict Checking & Total Doses Orders - 2:30 p.m. 
Presenters: Suzanne Catalfomo, Kalispell Regional Healthcare System;  Davin Morris, Supervisor, MEDITECH
Suzanne and Davin will guide you through the enhanced conflict checking brought forth by the First Databank (FDB) Cloud Connector Web API enhancement, as well as the improved Total Doses functionality. If your facility has struggled with duplicate medication conflict checking, drug disease conflict checking, or ordering medications with a set number of doses, this session is right for you!

Gearing Up for ICD-10 by Developing a Strong Clinical Documentation Improvement Program - 2:30 p.m.
Presenters: Dr. Andrew Burchett, Medical Information Officer, Avera Health; Jenny Capizzi, Manager, MEDITECH
With the shift to ICD-10 quickly approaching, the need for more robust and highly specific physician documentation is necessary to meet reimbursement requirements. This shift creates a great opportunity to not only meet ICD-10 requirements, but also improve the efficiency and value of the clinical documentation. During this session, attendees will get a preview of several changes and workflows in our EHR that specifically support providers documenting under the new ICD-10 guidelines. Dr. Burchett will share how Avera Health has prepared for ICD-10, including their strategy to engage physicians during the deployment of these changes.

Clinical Surveillance: Identifying Sepsis Before It Develops - 10:15 a.m.  
Presenter: Dan Seltzer, Applications Analyst, MEDITECH
Collaborator: Greg Hartman, RN, Clinical Informaticist, Avera Health

Dan will demonstrate how MEDITECH’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) can be leveraged to identify and monitor serious patient conditions by providing early warning alerts to nurses and physicians and Greg will sit in to assist with questions. This session will highlight how physicians and nurses can effectively track Sepsis patients and ensure they receive the proper treatment using MEDITECH’s Condition List feature. By optimizing this functionality, your organization can begin monitoring several conditions, such as congestive heart failure, stroke risk, and ventilator acquired pneumonia, leading to higher quality care and improved patient outcomes.
